Martin's School of Cooking: Cake Pops

I bought myself a "cake pop" maker a couple of months ago and attempted to make some for the 4th of July.  They turned out pretty good, but I couldn't get them to stay on the lollipop sticks.  My sister saw an advertisement for a cooking class on cake pops through Martin's School of Cooking.  I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to learn how to per-fect my art of the newest trend in desserts, so my sister and I signed up.  It was our first cooking class and we had an awesome time!

The teacher is a graduate of the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Chicago, a former Bakery Intern at Disney Resorts and the former pastry chef at Cerulean's in Winona Lake.  She also happens to be the sister-in-law of my hair stylist.  Small world!

This is me learning how to get the cake pop to stay on the stick and dip in the chocolate properly without falling off.  Mission accomplished!

My sister is working on her masterpiece above, and then showing off the finished product below...a monkey cake pop!  She did a great job and it looked awesome.  I told you we love monkeys in this family!

These are a few of the cake pops that other students made.  Not the most elegant of design, but pretty good for their first time.  The teacher made an awesome white with black swirl, topped with a dainty white flower cake pop, and I loved it.  It didn't get a picture though.  Darn!

Thanks, Martin's School of Cooking!  My sister and I had a great time.  We are looking forward to attending another class, but for something more hearty next time.  Yum!
