Second Shot at the Solids...

Hadley went to her "5 month" well baby check today.  Yes, I said 5 month...she's a little off on her visits.  (the doctor's office isn't very good at calculating dates!)  She weighed in at 15.5 pounds and was 25 1/4 inches long.  According to the doctor she's only in the 25th percentile, which baffles both Austin and me.  Oh well, we know she'll catch up someday!

After talking to the doctor about starting solids, we decided to come home and give Hadley some oatmeal.  Austin went first this time and Hadley did great!  After a few tries, along with daddy's demonstrations, she finally got the hang of eating off the spoon and swallowing.  Yeah!

Hadley ate about half of the oatmeal that we prepared, and we were very happy with her efforts!
She's growin' up so fast!

First Solid Food!

Hadley has been showing a lot of interest in what mommy and daddy are eating lately.  We cannot keep those little hands away from our food!  Rumor has it she also tried to eat a little bit of Grandma Kim's biscuits and gravy this past weekend.  Hmm...we think it's time to try some solid food!

Tools needed: Rice cereal, milk, bowl and spoon.

Mommy tried to feed Hadley first without much success, and then daddy tried.  She was a little confused about what the spoon was for and didn't seem to like the taste very well.  At the end, you could see the excitement in her face when she knew she could just resort back to her bottle!

I'll let the pictures do the talking from here...

Ahh, relief!  No more of that icky rice cereal!

First Trip to the Brown House!

Austin took Hadley for her first trip to Great Grandpa and Grandma Reames's cabin (aka brown house) in northern Michigan this weekend.  Unfortunately, I had to work and miss out on all of the fun.  Austin had a great time snowmobiling and getting a little break from "daddy duty," and from what I hear, Hadley had a blast spending time with her grandparents!  She also got to hang out with Great Uncle Mike and Aunt Shelby.  It was awesome family time...what a lucky little girl!

...and Little Miss Hadley and Grandpa Mark.

Aunt Shelby sledding down towards the river...

The cabin allows for tons of fun...snowmobling, sledding and skiing in the winter; kayaking, canoeing and swimming in the summer.  Plus, there's always great food and family time!

Happy 5 Months!

It's getting harder and harder to get Hadley to lay still and look over at me for her picture!

Immunizations: Round 2

I took Hadley to get her second round on immunizations today.  Austin met us at the clinic, but the morning session was full,  so we decided to have lunch instead.  After lunch Austin went back to work and Hadley and I tackled the afternoon session alone.  I didn't get to take many pictures...as you can imagine, it's a little hard to do paperwork, attend to a baby, lug all of her stuff around etc. etc. etc.!

Hadley got two cute Bugs Bunny bandaids for her ouchies!

Hadley did as good as can be expected for her shots.  We were in the jungle room this time.  It was super cute!  (Too bad I didn't get any pictures of it.)  Once in the room, Hadley started flashing her cute little smile and making friends with the nurse, and then OUCH...there came the needle!  That smile turned into a huge wailing sour face.  I couldn't pick her up fast enough!  However, there is nothing that a little love from your momma and a nice bottle can't fix.  Below are her before and after pictures.  As you can see, she was in great spirits when we first got there, smiling and laughing for the camera!

New Years Eve!

I failed to take any pictures on New Years Eve.  Whoops!  We spent a pretty uneventful evening at home with my mom, Hadley, and one of my best friends, Kariann and her husband Dustin.  We cooked pizza and watched "Brothers" and "The Blindside."  We were so busy watching the movies that we missed the ball dropping!  I did happen to look down at the clock right at midnight, so I ran over to kiss my husband as we entered the new year.  Hadley was in bed by 10:00 p.m.  We were in bed by 1:00 a.m.  Oh how things have changed!
