A much needed family day! (Splash Island)

I have a doctor's appointment in Indy today, so Austin took the day off work so that we could spend it together. We had such a great day - it was just awesome getting to all be together without the stress of any time schedule in our way! We spent the morning/early afternoon at Splash Island, an indoor water park at the Plainfield Aquatics Center. Hadley loved it. She was in 18 month old swimming heaven. The water park has a section that is a gradual entrance pool and the depth was only about 2 feet deep. Perfect height for little ones like Hadley. It had a twirly slide that she went down several times. Most of the kids her age wouldn't go down it, but she just kept walking over to the stairs, climbing up and sliding down. Such a big girl!

After swimming all morning, we headed to my appointment for a couple of hours and then went downtown to Noodles & Company for a late lunch. Hadley got her first adult meal all to her self: Wisconsin Mac n' Cheese. She's had stuff off the kid's menu plenty of times, but they didn't have a kid's menu this time, so she got an adult small portion. Daddy was secretly hoping she wouldn't eat it all so that he could have some, but she polished off most of it off all by herself. Must have been good!

After lunch we went back to the hotel to grab the truck and then started our 2 1/2 hour trek home. It was an awesome day! I love my husband and daughter so much, and a day like today also reminds me how much I enjoy their company too!

A much needed family night!

Austin, Hadley and I don't get entire days together very often because of our work schedules.  I have a doctor's appointment here in Indy tomorrow afternoon, so Austin took the day off work so that we can spend it together.  We got a hotel room tonight when I got out of work so that we could enjoy the pool and a fun relaxing family evening.  Hadley loved it!

Hadley showing off her swimming skills for daddy...

Goofy face.  She likes to stick her face in the water!

Practicing climbing out of the pool...

This video is a little blurry, but you can see how Hadley loves to jump in the water from the side of the pool.  She's gotten so good at listening to her 3 count and then jumping in...things we learn/practice in swim class each week!

Practicing kicks...by splashing like crazy of course!

After swimming, we headed back to our room to play a little bit before heading to bed.

Teething + Ice = Love!

Hadley has been teething lately.  She's getting her bottom canine (eye teeth) on both sides.  When she's teething, she doesn't care much for the teething rings, but she sure does love just plain ol' ice.  I let her go to town with the ice tray, and she was in heaven the entire time. Check out her funny faces...

Jello Disaster!

When we go to Pizza Hut, Hadley loves the jello.  I decided to get some for her at the store last week.  She had some after lunch today and boy was it a mistake.  She made such a mess...playing with it!  I honestly don't think that any of it made it into her mouth.  Next time, I'll be feeding her the jello vs. letting her feed herself.  Check out her crazy mess below:

Happy Valentine's Day!

Austin and I celebrated Valentine's Day last Friday w/ dinner at Flat Top and then going to the movies to watch No Strings Attached.  It was a much needed "date night" for the two of us, while Hadley stayed home w/ Grandma.  We didn't do anything special today for Valentine's, however, Hadley got dressed up to get a picture with the cards and gifts she received over the last week.  We did end up going out to dinner again tonight as a family to Wings Etc...I guess that was Hadley's Valentine's dinner!

Happy 1 year 6 months old, Hadley!

Hadley turned 1 1/2 years old today.  Throughout her entire first year of life I took a picture of her every time she turned one month older.  Towards the end, it was very hard to get her to sit still long enough for me to snap one.  Well, the same still proves true!  I tried for over 30 minutes to snap a picture of her today.  By the time I actually got one I could use, her hair was a hot mess and she was still looking over to her right.

Happy 1 1/2 years to our sweet little Hadley Martelle Allen.
Mommy and Daddy love you very much!

Lunch Date w/ the Anders Girls!

Hadley and I had lunch at Brown Bag Deli with the Anders girls today.  After lunch we headed over to Jaci's house so that the girls could play, and we could catch up.  On our way out of the deli, we spotted a left over ice sculpture from the last "First Friday" community event of the year.  The girls enjoyed checking it out...

Snow Day!

Lots of snow fell last night and continued to fall today.  Several area schools, businesses and roads were closed as a result.  Hadley and I decided to enjoy the snow day relaxing in our warm house while daddy headed out to work.  This is a picture out our basement window this morning...

We started out the morning relaxing in our lounge chairs while watching Elmo.

Hadley kept bugging me to go outside and play in the snow.  After much persuassion, we got dressed to head outside.  Here's a picture of Hadley trying to zip up her snow pants by herself.

I just added this picture because I LOVE her face!

As soon as we got outside Hadley immediately fell down again...just like last time we played in the snow!

She's trying to look around me and see Petyon, the neighbor's dog.  She loves that dog!

Hadley and I decided to see how much snow we got last night.  I didn't want to go inside to get the measuring tape, so we used a stick from a tree instead!  We broke it off at the top height of the snow.  How creative, huh?

Hadley's keeping a tight grip on the stick until we can get inside to measure it.

While we were outside we tried to make a snowman, but the snow wouldn't pack.  We made a snow tower instead out of the packs of snow by the car.

Measuring the stick...

Looks like we got about 1 foot of snow last night, according to Hadley's and my measurement.

Hadley apparently thought that measuring was so much fun, because she wanted me to measure her boot slippers next.  Too cute!

Whew!  What a fun snow day spent with my sweet little girl.  Too bad daddy had to work and couldn't play with us.
