West Virginia Day 2

We started our late morning off at Travillian's Pharmacy and Old Fashioned Soda Shop, where we ate lunch.  It was truly a step back in time, and tasted so yummy!  I actually broke down and had a pop after 4 weeks on the wagon.  How was I supposed to resist a true fountain coke?  When we left, Hadley wanted to ride the random "dog?"  In the picture below, she's showing Grandma his nose. Too cute!

After lunch, we headed to Campbell's Creek, which is the hollow where my mom grew up.  Our first stop was to check on the trailer park.  We needed to access the condition of the newly vacant lot and prep it for our rental sign.  Hadley had a great time getting out of the car and playing outside!

They have had a lot of rain down here, and the creek (hence the name Campbell's Creek) which backs up to our property was really high.  Hadley kept wanting to get in and swim.  Poor thing, she doesn't understand that there's some water we just don't swim in!

Hadley...surveying the empty lot.

She got bored quickly...

...and then she told me "Bye!"

You can see from the picture, she was very happy to be in the car and on to a new adventure!

Our next stop was Coonskin Park, which is filled with beautiful water falls and creeks.  My mom has talked about this place my entire life, and yet with all of my summer visits to WV, I had never been.  I guess it was a first time for both me and Hadley!

The morning started off chilly, but by mid afternoon it was up to almost 80 degrees.  It felt great!  Much better than the cold Indiana weather we left behind.  FYI: I got an oil change the next week!

After we left Coonskin Park, we headed back up the creek to Uncle Mick and Aunt Kay's house for dinner.  It was nice to sit outside on the mountain and enjoy the nice weather.  Hadley had a great time playing with her Great Great Uncle Mick!

She really liked his fake geese.  She kissed and hugged them several times throughout the evening.  It was super cute!

After dinner the temperature started to drop, so we had to hang out inside.  Hadley enjoyed playing with the blocks that Aunt Kay bought for church.

I wanted to get a picture of Hadley with Uncle Mick and Aunt Kay, but Aunt Kay thought she looked terrible.  She said she didn't have time to put on makeup.  I managed to still snap a quick picture of her playing with Hadley.

What a great day!  We had so much fun just relaxing and hanging out with family.  How does the ol' saying go?  "A day spent with family is a day well spent!"
