A day at the beach and The Dixie Stampede!

We decided to spend today lounging at the beach and enjoying the sunshine before we had to get ready to go to The Dixie Stampede.  I brought our beach umbrella from home and it was a great idea!  Hadley loved the beach and we definitely had a repeat of sand eating.  She also loved the ocean this time.  It was significantly warmer than when we were in AL, and she wanted to swim in it right away!

I wasn't able to take very many pictures while at the beach...as you can imagine, it's very hard to watch a 10 month old and use a camera.  Plus, it was 98 degrees outside with very high humidity.  I wish I could have got a few pictures of Hadley enjoying swimming in the ocean...maybe next time!

This was mom's first time stepping into the ocean.  She loved it!

Mom and I took a trip to Branson, MO a few years ago and had ever intention of taking in The Dixie Stampede until we learned that they closed one month in advance for their Christmas show to prepare.  Hmm.  So, we decided to give it a whirl while in Myrtle Beach.  I was a little nervous about how Hadley would do during a 1 hour pre-show and a 1 1/2 hour main show, but she did great!  I think that the older couple down the way from us enjoyed watching Hadley more than the show.  She was dancing to "Cotton Eyed Joe," clapping with the crowd, laughing at the horses and "tha-ing" at the Southern Belle's as they dropped from the ceiling.  Shh...I think I secretly enjoyed watching Hadley more than the show too!

Mom bought us drinks during the pre-show.  They were $4.00 drinks...yowza!  After a short visit to the gift shop I figured out that the boot glass was $3.00 of the cost while the actual drink only cost $1.00.  Gotta love the expense of vacation!

We weren't permitted to take pictures during the main show, but I "accidentally" managed to grab a few non-flash pictures before putting my camera away.  Whoops!

I bought preferred seating for the show...3rd row.  I honestly don't think there is a bad seat in the house though.  We were on the south side, which meant that during the competitions we were routing for the "South!"  It was a great show!  At the end of the show, we got our picutres taken with Dolly Parton's picture, the founder/owner of The Dixie Stampede.

After the 3 hours we spent at The Dixie Stampede we are exhausted!  We headed back to the condo for a good night's sleep.  We are traveling to Charleston, SC tomorrow to enjoy a few of the pleasures the south has to offer.  Goodnight, Myrtle Beach!
